DIY - Samurai Sandals for BJD

As per request, I've done up a brief tutorial on making samurai sandals. This is not an exact replica as the procedure involves glueing. But if you don't mind about it, go and give it a try.

The materials and basic step of weaving the sole are shown in the pictures. Always try to match the drawing as you pleat and add leather rods along the way when the shape get widen. Likewise, pleat less a leather rod when the shape get narrower.

After completing the sole, pleat new suede linguine (for the sides). Then, cut away the excess leather rods, and glue the pleated suede linguine around the sides.

To make the strap (for holding the foot to the sole), divide a new suede linguine into 2 (so that it becomes/ looks like string). Gather 3 and pleat them. They must be long enough as it goes from the toes all the way to the ankles and to the back of the foot, when it will be fasten/ made into a bow.

To attach the straps to the sole, poke the divided suede linguine through the sole and loop over the strap before going back the sole again. You can choose to tie both ends at the back of the sole, or apply glue before weave in and out the sole in order to hid them. Of course, you have to be precised about the spots for the attachment.
